After spending 5 days in the Parkhotel in Horst it was time to check out and make the 90 minute trip north to Doetinchem where we played the 2nd game of our tour against De Graafschap who play in the 2nd tier of Dutch football. The lads seemed up for the game and were eager to bounce back from the defeat on Wednesday against NEC Nijmegen. After a promising start we managed to take the lead through Rhys Jenkinson only to be pegged back by a well taken free kick right on the stroke of half time.In the 2nd period we played a more pressing game and almost immediately took the lead after a clearance rebounded off James King and found the empty net.We controlled most of the 2nd half and added further goals by Callum Chippendale and a Joe Brennan pair made the final score 5-1.The score line more than made up the disapointment of our earlier game. After the match we made the coach transfer to our base for the 2nd week of the tour to Delden which is a small village in the north of Holland. After checking in and having dinner we then organised a cake to celebrate Dylan Mottley Henry’s 17th birthday then finally had a meeting reviewing the day and going through the plans for tomorrow. The lads had an hour to check out the facilities before retiring to bed.
