Bradford City 2 – 0 Hull City – Friday 6th March 2015 – Match Report

Last Friday saw us entertain Hull City down at Rawdon Meadows. Hull are always a good benchmark as every year they are up there challenging for the league title. In the early exchanges both teams struggled to come to terms with the windy conditions and cancelled each other out. On 22 minutes we managed to take the lead, from a Danny Devine corner, James Pollards powerful header found the back of the net.

We then went on to create further chances, Reece Webb Foster got on the end of a Kesi Omolokun through ball and lobbed the on rushing goalkeeper but his effort just cleared the crossbar. Jimmy Pollard then had a further chance to double our lead, again from a Danny Devine corner, he reacted Quickest and his shot was well saved by their Goalkeeper. On 28 minutes Dylan Mottley Henry showed the Hull fullback a clean pair of heels but his cross managed to evade everyone. On 32 minutes we deservedly doubled our lead.

After being awarded a free kick 20 yards out, Reece Webb Foster managed to bend the ball around the wall and in to the top corner. The remaining 13 minutes of the half went without incident leaving the half time score 2-0. The second period started similar to the first although as expected Hull pushed forward looking to get back in to the game. On the hour mark Elliott Barker made a fine save down to his left after their Centre Forward got in behind our defence. On 70 minutes we nearly extended our lead after a fine run by Sumaili Cissa saw his shot just miss the far post.

In the last few minutes Dylan Mottley Henrys pace again troubled the Hull defence but he couldn’t find a finishing touch leaving the final score 2-0. It was a deserved 3 points and ensured we ended the weekend on top of the league. We have no fixture this weekend so our next game is at home on Tuesday 17th March 12 noon kick off against York City.
