Welcome to Bradford City’s Elite Development Centre at Woodhouse Grove. Due to re-structuring over the off season the Woodhouse Grove Centre has now become our “Elite Centre”.

The centre is an excellent place for those “Elite” boys to improve and develop their ability with opportunities for players to make the step up into the academy at U9s and for the younger players to develop relationships with fellow players whilst getting a feel for the environment and also getting to know the coaches, all of whom work within the academy.

Facilities
Our Woodhouse Grove Elite Development Centre sees our U7-U9s train on the full size 4g pitches with the U6s training in the indoor sports hall. With Woodhouse Grove being the home of our First Team and academy the facilities are excellent and well maintained and its a fantastic environment for young players to learn and develop looking to make the step up into the academy.

Cost
U6s – £3 per 1 hour session
U7s/U8s DC squads – £5 per 1.5 hour session.

Parking
Up on turning into the school take the lade between the grass pitches so the changing rooms are on your right. As you approach the floodlit Astroturf bend round to your left and there is ample car parking space available either directly in front of the school or in the car park to the right.

Lewis Nightingale

Head Foundation Phase Coach

Lewis progressed through the youth system at Huddersfield Town from the age 6 to then be awarded with a professional contract at 18 joining the first team squad. Lewis has firsthand experience of the process and what is required to be successful. On leaving Huddersfield Town, Lewis wanted to mentor younger players using his knowledge, skills and expertise he had gained whilst playing and began his first position at Bradford City working with the U9’s and U10’s in the Academy, he quickly built an excellent reputation as coach gaining his B License and Youth Modules. The opportunity then arose for Lewis to become full time lead foundation phase coach at The Academy, and with his determination and commitment it is a great way for the young players entering the Academy to be mentored.

Ryan Farrell

U9’s Coach

Ryan graduated from Huddersfield University in 2011 with a Bsc (Hons) Sports Coaching degree and teaches full time in primary education. It’s now Ryan’s second year at Bradford City before joining Ryan was coaching in Mexico City where he worked as a Coerver coach alongside West Ham United's International academy. Ryan played his youth football for both Huddersfield and Halifax Town, he has had spells and Bradford Park Avenue and Brighouse Town. He is now currently playing at Thackley. Ryan holds his UEFA B License and is currently looking to complete his YM3 this season. Additional qualifications include: Coerver diploma, FA Coaching Disabled Footballers and Futsal.

Christian Thewlis

U8’s Elite Coach

Christian has been coaching for the past 2/3 years in primary schools around West Yorkshire coaching young children football and multi-sports alongside working with Dewsbury Rangers U9s. Christian starting playing for Rastrick Juniors, in this period he had many associations with professional clubs and development centres. When he turned 15 he signed for Burnley FC and was there until signing for Fleetwood Town where he completed a 2 year scholarship and was on the bench for the Capital One Cup game vs Nottingham Forest. He is currently enjoying a successful spell with Conference North side Hyde FC. He sees his experiences as a player valuable and looks to pass these onto the younger players to enhance their development.

Conor Sellars

U8’s Coach

Conor came through Middlesbrough's academy doing 3 years in the full time setup before signing for first team clubs in both Iceland and Portugal. Conor is a determined coach who wants to give the players the best chance of being successful having been through the process and knows what is needed to succeed. Recently appointed the U9s Academy Coach and U8 Development Centre Coach Conor can't wait to get going in looking to move the players forward.

U7’s Coach

Chazz is currently a PE coordinator at Whetley Academy, where he oversees the development of PE in key stage 2. Chazz’s first coaching experience was at Albion Sports Junior, where he became the coach development officer. During his time there he was responsible for improving the coaching structure and mentoring other coaches. In 2012 he helped write the clubs long term plan, which allowed the club to gain the FA Charter Community Standard Award. Chazz has obtained his Uefa B Licence and Youth Module Award and in 2013 the opportunity to join BCFC Academy arose, where Chazz became the team manager for the u11 and u12’s. Over the last 18 months Chazz has continued to work hard to become coach who provides a positive learning environment for young players at the both the Academy and Development Centres.

U6’s Coach

Matt is an ex academy player having spent 4 years in the clubs youth system. Currently working in primary schools throughout West Yorkshire for the past 4 years Matt has experience in working and development young players. In his second season coaching in the clubs Development Centres, he has a good knowledge on the standard required to become successful in the academy.
