Safeguarding & Welfare

With respect to the recent and much publicised historic allegations of abuse in football, Bradford City Football Club would like to record how seriously we take the issue of safeguarding and welfare across the Club in its entirety.

Whether you are a parent of a child in our academy system or professional ranks, a supporter that attends games regularly on a match day or you have any other regular contact with the Club or its staff, we would like to make you aware of the below points please:
1.The Club’s designated Safeguarding Officer is Derek Nolan.
If you would like to report any issues relating to safeguarding or any other welfare issue with regards to a young footballer currently within our system we would advise you to contact Derek in the first instance in complete confidence via our dedicated e mail address support@bradfordcityfc.co.uk

2.For any matters referring to any players or Bradford City members of staff including players please reference the subject of the email to Wendy James, also using the dedicated e mail address support@bradfordcityfc.co.uk

3.For any match day issues with regards to Bradford City staff or perhaps their Agency Staff such as Security, Stewarding, Banqueting or Kiosk Staffing please please reference the subject of the email to David Dowse, also using the dedicated e mail address support@bradfordcityfc.co.uk
4.As it is well known, Bradford City Football Club have their first team and academy training facilities at Woodhouse Grove School. Earlier this season we asked fans to respect the fact that this was a school with children under the age of 18 present on a daily basis and we thank those supporters that respected our wishes with regards to the taking of photographs on mobile phones and other camera devices. We would ask for your support in continuing to be vigilant with such matters.
5.Stuart McCall, our first team manager, all of his backroom staff and all the first team playing staff attended a specific safeguarding presentation at Woodhouse Grove only a few months ago to further emphasise how seriously the Club take this issue. There will be times therefore however when the taking of photographs with fans, especially young supporters on their own won’t be possible. We ask you to please understand this.

If you have any information that you would like to share with the Club in the strictest confidence whether with regards to current or historic issues please do not hesitate to use one of the contact addresses above.

Any allegations should also be reported to the police and The FA. The FA’s safeguarding team can be contacted at safeguarding@thefa.com or on 0800 169 1863 extension 4809.
The FA has commissioned a dedicated NSPCC helpline for adults who were victims of sexual abuse in childhood within the football industry. This free, independent helpline is staffed by experienced NSPCC professionals, and will offer support and guidance for adults who were victims of abuse. The helpline will be available 24 hours a day on 0800 023 2642.

Thank you for your support.
